Famous Dulevo Porcelain Factory Lilac, 1960 Many Lilac sets of various years are available! During the Soviet era, tableware depicting various flowers, such as roses, daisies, and carnations, was very popular. But the "Lilac" service, produced by the Dulevo Porcelain Factory, is truly considered legendary. It was a dream for Soviet citizens and remains a favorite among collectors to this day. The artistic solution of this service cannot be called innovative: on items of a widespread and universal “Tulip” shape with ribbed sides, branches of lilac are applied using the decal technique (printing), and the edges are gilded. This motif is known since pre-revolutionary times; it can be found very often on Kuznetsov and Gardner porcelain, as well as on products from other manufacturers. "Lilac" was produced until the end of the 1960s. Other factories also used this motif in tableware, such as the M.I. Kalinin Kонаkovo Faience Factory, the "Proletary" and "Krasny Farforist" factories, and the Riga Porcelain Factory. Lilac was also depicted on dinner services (such as the one seen in Raisa Zakharovna’s home in the film “Love and Pigeons”). But this tableware was never as popular as the Dulevo tea service. The lightness and airiness of the porcelain, the tenderness and naturalism of the lilac, which seems to exude the fragrance of spring, the clarity of the motif, and the cheerfulness – perhaps it is for these qualities that we appreciate the enduring bouquet created by the masters of the Dulevo Porcelain Factory.
