The designs on its surfaces are made with the decal technique, which involves applying a pattern to a porcelain surface from a paper sheet, using gold-based super-paint and cobalt oxide. The tea set was made at the legendary Imperial Porcelain Factory, which was opened in the second half of the 18th century, in accordance with the old production methods of the company. A unique recipe for each type of porcelain was developed by the scientist Dmitry Vinogradov back in the 18th century for the Elizabethan Porcelain Manufactory (now the Imperial Porcelain Factory). This is famous Russian Lomonosov Gold Cobalt Net pattern, also known as the Catherine the Great pattern. These beautiful pieces are decorated with the Gold Cobalt Net design that originated in Russian two centuries ago when it was first made for the Czar's Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. It is unique for its deep blue color accented with gold where each Blue Net line intersects. The decoration of Cobalt Net , inspired by the service from Elizabeth's period, fitted harmoniously into the delicate tulip shape and produced a wonderfully noble, classically beautiful whole. The sugar bowl is approximately 4 1/4" (11.5 cm) tall (with lid). The cups are approximately 2 3/4" (6 cm) tall and 4" (10.5 cm) in diameter. The saucers are approximately 6" (15 cm) in diameter. The plates are 7" (18 cm) in diameter. It was hand-painted with Gold Ink. They have Imperial Lomonosov Porcelain Factory LFZ logo on the bottom.
