Many "Syreni" (Lilac) sets of various years are available! During the Soviet era, tableware depicting various flowers, such as roses, daisies, and carnations, was very popular. But the “Syreni” set, produced by Dulevo Porcelain Factory, is truly considered legendary. It was a dream for Soviet citizens and remains a favorite among collectors to this day. The artistic design of this set cannot be called innovative: images of lilac branches are applied using décalcomanie (transfer printing) to items of the common and versatile "Tulip" shape with fluted sides, and the edges are gilded. This motif is known since pre-revolutionary times; it can be found frequently on Kuznetsov and Gardner porcelain, as well as on products from other manufacturers. The “Syreni” set was produced until the late 1960s. Other factories also used this motif in their tableware, such as the M.I. Kalinin Kонаkovo Faience Factory, the "Proletary" and "Krasny Farforist" factories, and the Riga Porcelain Factory. Lilac was also depicted on dinner service sets (such as the one seen in the home of Raisa Zakharovna in the film “Love and Pigeons”). But this tableware was never as popular as the Dulevo tea set. The lightness and airiness of the porcelain, the tenderness and naturalism of the lilac, which seems to exude the fragrance of spring, the familiarity of the motif, and the cheerfulness – perhaps it is for these reasons that we value the enduring bouquet created by the masters of the Dulevo Porcelain Factory.
