The teacup and saucer are part of the “Magic Garden” collection, created in collaboration between the Imperial Porcelain Factory and renowned designer Sergey Sysyev, reflecting the philosophy of floral symbolism and Russian estate architecture of the 19th century. The service’s elements, combining the external stateliness of architecture with the internal dynamism of a flower, allow one to travel through space and time.
The interplay of light and shadow in each image accentuates the relief decoration of garden details. Garlands and rosettes, leaves of a tropical plant – acanthus – decorating capitals, are executed in engraving technique; they seem to have migrated from cold architecture onto the finest bone porcelain.
The tulip flower expresses an entire world of feelings, endowing moments of life with renewal and tranquil contemplation. Historically adorning not only gardens but also expensive textiles, the tulip is particularly close to Sergey Sysyev: the designer has repeatedly turned to its image in his collections.
